Nothing to see here

Our DNS has recently been moved to the same people who do our hosting - dn875, apparently a part of ACSite.net. Of course, they're actually just onselling from enom.com, meaning their interface is out of date and missing some features. My email about this went unanswered.

At the same time I've been trying to get our domain name intergrated with our hosting account - I submitted a support ticket, got a reply saying 'yes, yes, we'll do it as soon as the domain is transferred'. That was about a month ago - have submitted another ticket and got nothing in reply to that one.

So, the end result is that we still have a crappy redirect to se.uu2.org instead of our nice domain name. Oh, and their interface fucks up CNAME records, and actually puts the dot at the end of the aliased name. And, their url redirect has been on the blink for the last 24 hours or so, which explains the low member count.

Well, shit.

Edit: We've now been *moved* to somethingemporium.com. Be advised that se.uu2.org will not work. Update ya bookmarks and tell me if there's anywhere I've used an absolute link.

those bastards.

It might be DNS Propegation. Fingers crossed.
Justin
It's not; the requests are getting to their nameservers. It's what the nameservers do with the request from there that's wrong.

Also, I'm peeved that they haven't got this sorted yet, when on the 21st of April they said:

"After transferring your domain to us, just let us know and we will do all setting for you."

Still nothing. And there's really no hope of getting anything better than a url redirect unless they do it.
Dominic
I've just filed an angrier support ticket - my third. This time I gave it the highest priority level - something they deserve seeing as they've ignored my 'normal' level requests for over a month.
Dominic
Never submit a 'normal' level for request. You'll be placed below all the people like me who make 'high' or 'urgent' requests.

I know, it's a subversion of the system. But you've got to make the system work for you.

I also have a domain through enom (one of their resellers actually). It's been on the blink for the last 24 hours too. But it's up now, finally.

I did find out that you don't have to go through your reseller, you can login to enom with the same details and use their control panel.

In case you didn't notice, their email forwarding was also on the blink - I'm not convinced that it's back up fully yet.
darkclown
Yeah, I did know that you could login through enom - it's just silly that their resellers have an up-to-date copy of the help, and an old copy of the control panel, so they don't match up. Anyway, that's all secondary now our domain is beautiful.
Dominic
Well, it just totally worked for me. I've got a beautiful domain name up there in the address bar. Fingers crossed it works for everyone, and stays that way.
Justin
Yeah. Fixed. Hell yeah.
Dominic
somethingemporium.com has been associated with the your hosting account. We are very sorry for the inconvenience that may have been caused by this, it shouldn't happen again.

Yus!
Dominic
Yeah, so that's a pain in the ass. It was so easy to type se.uu2.org!!

And because I can't comment in the appropriate news item for fearing of tainting it, damn darkclown! One of the *original* SE'ers should get the first shirt. Obviously, one with money. That rules me out. Nothing against new SE'ers, but it'd be nice to see someone who has been here for a while get it.

I don't disagree with you.

It's not a competition that can be won by a worthy recipient - if it were, I'd be the last on the list (no really, I think I am the last on the list). But it's an auction that involves a payment for a purchase.

Perhaps one of the original SE'rs may get the shirt. But seeing as it's the first one, I figured it may be worth a fair bit. So I'm bidding appropriately.

My apologies if I have priced it out of the market for anyone. But surely that's a good thing - it's helping towards keeping the site going for another year. And that's what we all want isn't it?
darkclown
Yeah. I'm not disagreeing with you either.

Ignore me. I'm in more than a bit of a s--tty mood.
Alyx
A s--tty mood, Alyx? Never!
funkymunky
Ahahahaha. You're *so* hilarious :P
Alyx
Well I do try.
